March of Dimes is a United States nonprofit organization that works to improve the health of mothers and babies. According to its website, "We believe that every baby deserves the best possible start. Unfortunately, not all babies get one. We are changing that.

On February 2020 in West Palm Beach, An upset former employee wrote in a review posted by Indeed,about the management bad treat he had: I could rant and rave but here is one example: - my manager said she “forgot” to book my hotel room where the convention was being held even though she had booked everyone else’s. She books me in a hotel down the street. Not only was I the only staff member who was not at the convention hotel, but when I asked about transportation she told me to walk.

"So I was hired back in 2018 the specific supervisor I reported to was very negative. When the team would say we are doing great the supervisor would get up and then start telling the team how this is not good how this is behind how we might not make numbers I sat and observed. She and the staffing agency did not give me a solid time on when I needed to be to work. I was ultimately let go after working only three days due to “the mail room being to full and we didn’t have enough workers” ya ok. The environment was quite different departments would walk by and not speak to each was like having 3 classes rooms in one and everyone’s with there tribe and they only communicate with there tribe. Cons: Looks good on the out side more negative in the inside"

"The overall culture of the organization is wonderful and they have a great mission. However, local management is horrible with zero support, unreasonable expectations to be accomplished in a 40 hour work week, expecting the same work to be done as a salaried staff, working over 40 hours with zero compensation. Refuses to do any work themselves. Loved working with the customers and within the community, and with the volunteers. A very high staff turnover due to local management staff. All senior staff have left within a year and a half with current staff being new."

"Do not jump in expecting a great time. They are in a state of turmoil and cutting positions across the country. The entire staff is searching for new work and morale is dropping."

"Lack of respect from management. Don't bother doing extra work or going above and beyond for your colleagues or volunteers because at the end of the day they only care about the money you are brining in, whether your job is a fundraiser or not. They're evaluation system is beyond dated, and while new management was brought in, it doesn't seem they want to change with the times. New ideas were never welcomed and events have become old and stale."

"The March of Dimes does great work and I love the organization and still support and plan to volunteer else where. If they do not get rid of the management and childish issues the fundraising will continue to decline. Pushing someone out and them telling you that you “a little too young for the job” should never be acceptable!!"

"I worked as a Community Manager for the March for Babies Walk for 9 months before I left. The pay is very low compared to other non-profits and you are expected to work more than 40 hours a week. I received an email from the Regional Manager of how a typical day should be. It stated that I check my emails while eating breakfast, arrive at the office by 8am to prepare for the days meetings, have at least 2 meetings scheduled each day, have lunch at a place with free wifi so you can check email and followup on correspondence, and also to check email after dinner. Cons: Very Low Pay"

"I was extremely passionate about my role as Community Director and used the resources available to me to accomplish the objectives I set for myself. Despite my expectations of a positive work environment considering this was non-profit, the conditions were terrible. My co-workers were rude and unprofessional and refused to help with my on-boarding process."

"This used to be a great place to work although the salaries were always below the industry standards and raises are non existent. Then management changed and it became terrible. They do not honour their employment agreements, micro manage like crazy and everything is about money even though they are supposed to be a not for profit. Would not recommend. "The stress of working for this company has become unsustainable. Management only talks about ‘driving revenue’ and the mission is never mentioned anymore. There have been three rounds of furloughs/restructuring this year alone, making the anxiety of losing one’s job a constant stressor. In addition, the unending pressure to bring in more and more donations forces employees to feel they’re constantly being compared to and in competition with co-workers, ruining any semblance of teamwork. Terrible experience. Cons: Management is the worst I’ve ever experienced"

During my short time there ( less than two years) their direction had changed so much it made me feel uncomfortable to fundraise for. There has been 7 reorgnizations in 4 years ( when the CEO started) and at no time can you feel that your position is safe. I also feel that everyone in senior management see a shiny new way to raise money insteads of analyzing what has been done before. Cons: Senior leadership, direction of mission"

"I worked at March of Dimes full-time for more than 5 years Cons: The list is long, unfortunately. As a “Mission Mom”, donor and person that devoted more than my 8 hours a day, I became very disappointed in the leadership’s lack of direction, mismanagement, and lack of appreciation for staff and volunteers. They claim that they care about the mission but that’s just what they say-the priority is raising money. I understand that an organization has to have money to exist but it was very apparent that mission was not the forefront as evident by decreasing mission staff and programs in high preterm birth areas...And that’s just the latest offense. Employee layoffs are an unfortunate occurrence and sometimes can’t be helped but the leadership’s lack of empathy for long-term staff was despicable. When closing entire markets, the volunteers were not contacted, no community message-they were just left to find out by trying to call or calling laid-off staff at home to find out what was happening. I’m ashamed of MOD. They’ve not only lost my passion and the many amazing staff but they’ve also lost my donations. I’ll find another non-profit that will care about the mission of saving mom’s and babies. Also, it’s embarrassing that the President thinks a vile, reality TV celebrity is a good face for our cause."

Sounds like whatever March of Dimes Canada is is a great place to work but the March of Dimes based in Arlington, VA is a freakin mess that has laid of hundreds of employees in the past year and is horribly financially mismanaged by its egocentric senior leadership team."

"I have been working at March of Dimes full-time for more than 5 years Cons: This place is a total mess and has been for years. There have 4 rounds of restructuring and lay-offs in the last four years. The national team has no respect for market staff and treat them as if they’re expendable. The environment is very political and they offer very little room for growth. The organization keeps eliminating key positions, like local marketing staff, and expects fundraisers to do their jobs with little direction or resources. Strategy is always behind and the national team has a new priority every few months. It’s nothing short of exhausting and frustrating to work here."

Sitting in meetings where the importance of providing necessary information to people of color who are most at the disadvantage in the healthcare system. The marketing team is led by women who are predominantly white women and do not have the compassion required to help change the dynamics to create equity and equality in the mission that they lead. Additionally, the C-level management team tends to work in her own bubble ignoring what is important which is her staff. Overall the company is led by intimidating and force and completely unorganized in its offerings to partners - some of the employees have been working there all of their lives and they have a buddy system."

"I worked at March of Dimes full-time for more than a year Cons: When I started with the company, I thought people were exaggerating when they said how many times the company has done a restructuring. Within the past four years that have been four major reorganizations that created a lack of confidence from our donors and our board. Also, within the past year, the leadership team has changed the campaign for fundraising, which makes sense with covid. But the constant changes again confuse donors. The CEO has also taken a large political stance but none of this has been communicated to donors. Lastly, with this large layoff they just did, they closed 35 markets I believe. This has not been communicated to any donors or the cancelations of any events."

Corporate office treated us so poorly, we were expected to fit the national mold instead of being trusted to know our own market and do what we knew would work to raise the most dollars. "Prices are ridiculous. Don't fall for the "we price match" either. Because their packaging isn't the same for the exact same coins you can buy elsewhere for considerably less. Too shady with the word games. Don't trust them."
